After our trip to the V&A last weekend, we got thinking about the wedding season. A bride’s wedding day is probably the most scrupulously planned day of her life, and that goes for most of the bridal party and guests too! We all know how stress can wreak havoc on anyone’s skin and so here is our advice for those pre wedding days.
Don’t Stress Your Skin
Way back in our infancy Your Kent Wedding kindly wrote about us and they are a guiding force for brides. I believe that great skincare should be a staple for everyone all year round and that is why I launched LYS London, with the principle of effective uncomplicated skincare in mind. But in the months leading up to the big day most brides will be looking for that extra boost for glowing skin.
Ready, Set, Glow!
The simplest way for you to care for your skin is to cleanse twice daily, exfoliate and moisturise. Our hero product the Cleanse & Smooth Exfoliating Wash will effectively remove blackheads and gently remove eye make up. It contains two exfoliators, one physical and one chemical to ensure your skin is in tip top shape (it also means you don’t have to have two separate products!) Our oil-free moisturiser is suitable for all skin types and can be tailored to your needs with one of our 4 serums. This means you can have customised skincare in your own home without lots of products cluttering your bathroom (we all have THAT drawer full of half used products.) Our Facial in a Box gives you all of this for a fraction of the price of other brands.
Avoid facials before your wedding day
I cannot stress how important it is to not have facials in the month leading up to your big day, particularly if you are new to this treatment. For the 6 to 12 months up to your wedding, professional facials can be great (alongside a proper home care routine) but it is advised to let your skin be for the month up to your wedding to avoid any breakouts. It is also not the time to be trying new things, stick to your current skincare routine and don’t be tempted by any “miracle” products, I can assure you, you will regret it!
Find the right make up artist
Finding a great make up artist, who you trust is also essential. Make sure you have trials with them and feel comfortable to tell them what you like and more importantly what you dislike. Don’t forget they will be involved in one of the most intimate parts of your day, getting ready, with only a handful of your closest family and friends. As a make up artist, there is nothing better than being involved in that part of someone’s day. Kelly over at Boho Weddings has a great post for finding your perfect make up artist, you can read it here.
The most important thing to remember is to enjoy the day, your wedding day is the start of a wonderful journey for you as a couple and should be full of love and laughter all the while looking a million dollars.
